AOC Quincy wine
A little history
The Quincy is a bimillennial wine! He was originally called Quincacius, after the owner of a domain: Quintius. Appreciated by Duke Jean de Berry and King Charles VII, Quincy wines were recognized very early on for their excellence, and acquired a reputation as noble wines.
Quincy today:
First Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée of the Loire Valley in 1936, the Quincy vineyard extends on the edges of the plateau which dominates the Cher valley over nearly 300 hectares, divided between the communes of Quincy and Brinay. Its terroir, made up of sand and gravel, gives the wines, exclusively white and made from the Sauvignon grape variety, their unique taste.
The AOC guarantees the quality and typicality of Quincy: a fresh and fruity wine, with aromas of citrus fruits and acacia. This wine goes wonderfully with regional goat cheeses (Valençay, Chavignol, etc.) or fish and seafood.
Every year, the winegrowers organize an event not to be missed during the last weekend of August: the Ocean Days! Oyster farmers from Oléron and winegrowers from Quincy then find themselves in a festive atmosphere around these exceptional products.
